 One Bear's Blog - Page 3
3/26/2007 - Today, Inger and I explored the town of Hokksund, as well as a sculpture park, a place where they fish for salmon (though not today), and a sundial! We even got to see a sculpture that Inger had a hand in designing at the sculpture park! ...even more pictures have been added here.
3/25/2007 - The best days always start with honey, don't you think? And my host, Inger, raises bees, so this is bear-heaven! She allowed me to check out the supply this morning, before we headed out to explore Vikersund. We saw an old-time house, a storage building, and some very exciting ski flying installations... ...more pictures have been added here.
3/24/2007 - I have arrived in the town of Hokksund. I am still in Norway, visiting with Inger. She and Bjørn met over coffee this afternoon and I got to go with Inger to her house! Immediately, she allowed me to check the Coffee Cup Ambassador's Lounge to see if I had missed anything in the past couple of days. But then I had the scare of my life! This big furry monster snatched me from the computer. I was terrified! Inger saved me, literally wrenching me from the jaws of death! Well, maybe not quite so dramatic, the giant cat only sniffed at me and realizing I was not a mouse, did me no harm. But it was a close one!
I have some pictures you can see by clicking here.

3/21/2007 - Bjørn and I had a fabulous day out and about! We saw old ruins, and a Viking ship! We even saw a castle tower (without the castle!) and I posed with a monk, a king, and a princess...well, sort of! I have put together some pictures you can see by clicking here.
PS - I am off to see Inger in a few days!

3/19/2007 - I have arrived in Norway! I must say I am a bit weary from this long leg of the journey! My host, a fine fellow named Bjørn, helped me out of my travel compartment and brushed me off a bit. Oh do not misunderstand, much of the journey was quite pleasant and I simply passed the time reading and no one gave me much notice. But at one point, my entire compartment was lifted up and shaken! And if that was not enough, just when I had settled down a bit and my stomache had stopped doing flip flops, it happened again! Then there was a bit of commotion and suddenly the entire compartment began to move sideways. Now, that was an odd sensation! Especially after the tossing about I had endured moments before! It was during this almost-floating sensation that a really bright light flashed through the cracks in the compartment. I closed my eyes and soon it stopped. Then there was some laughing from outside, and I was suddenly moving very fast sideways before coming to a stop. There I remained for quite some time. I peered through the crack where the light had entered and saw around me many other compartments like my own. I figured there must be hundreds of wee bears traveling that day! After that the journey was fairly uneventful. I understand I will be treated to quite the tour with my host, Bjørn. I will be sure to post more pictures soon!
In the coming weeks, I will also meet with another host, Inger, in Norway and then it is on to England where I will meet up with Jim and David H. and even Darce Jean from the States. (Darce Jean, when traveling, just remember to close your eyes when they shine the bright light!).
Well, that is all for now. I'm almost having too much fun to sleep, but I will write more very soon!
In addition to the online bear-blog, I am keeping a paper journal. Here is what I have written for today:
"Today I finally got out of this small box and arrived in Norway! (I wish Bjørn would empty his post box a little more often, though...)
Anyway, I'm so excited about this place - to see the fjords and mountains, the wild vikings, and of course all the polar bears walking in the streets. Especially the female polar bears, of course!
I understand from my name brother, Bjørn, that he's going to show me the town, so I'm so excited! Will write more later."

3/5/2007 - I am off to Norway. Everything is in order. I have had my passport picture taken, papers are in order and I am all packed (well, I travel rather light, actually).
Generally speaking, most folks look rather stiff in their passport photos. I thought I looked rather fluffy and dapper. What do you think? It will be a few days enroute to Norway, but I will write more as soon as I can!
3/3/2007 - Greetings from California! My name is Lucky Bear and I am about to embark on a round-the-world journey which will take me in a couple of days to Norway! After that I will be traveling all over Europe before heading back to the States for a jaunt to Arkansas and Michigan among other places. I will post pictures from my travels and keep you up to date on my journey in the weeks and months to come! I wanted to include this picture of me and a few of my wee friends at my Going Away party. That's me on the right, waving!
Check back here from time to time to see where I have been and who has welcomed me into their lives!
